Before becoming a doctor, Dr. Sylvie Demers taught science at the high school and college levels. After completing her residence in family medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke in 1998, she ran a multidisciplinary practice (emergency, family medicine, psychiatry, hospitalization, medico-legal medicine, teaching...) and chaired many committees. She also has training in psychiatry.
Physician, researcher, and biologist, Dr. Demers received a doctorate in experimental medicine, with a specialization in human molecular genetics, from the Université Laval in 2003. In January 2005, she founded the Centre ménopause-andropause Outaouais whose main mission is to recognize the multiple benefits of female hormones on health and welfare. Thousands of women are currently being treated by Dr. Demers.
A true pioneer in her field, renowned speaker, author of scientific publications and the best seller Hormones au féminin: Repensez votre santé, Dr. Sylvie Demers is also a recipient of many grants and awards, including the excellence award received in 1996 from the French Government for the best overall average in medicine.
